  1. Hej guys,

Thanks for taking care of all these planning issues. I had a look at the hostels. They all look nice. Maybe it's better not to choose Chita, since they have curfew and you're not allowed to bring any food or drinks. And Bon seems to be a bit far from the station, but I don't know if that's the same place as the center/ the places where we want to go.

They all have some good things: Yahata has a free breakfast, bola bola free internet, in Ichiensou it's possible to cook. Maybe one of these three? Kingoya also looks beautiful (slightly more expensive).

Sleep well and see you soon!

  3. Hello all,

I just had a quick look at the hostels. Yahata looks ok to me. Its quite pratical to have breakfast available I suppose. Maybe that one is still available?

We will we all fly to Tokyo on friday 22 october? Magnus, Akiko, Thierry and I have the same flight. Marlies and Olaf; when will you fly?

On thursday it is possible to check-in online and also reserve a seat in the airplane. Maybe we can arrange that we have seats next to eachother?! If all of us will be online thursday evening, we could try..

    Cheers,

    Joop

    Suggestion

If we like a little bit of a challenge we could go to Muscle Park, looks like good fun with a fysical aspect added to it...

This website you found is hilarious. The muscle park sounds like good goofy fun as a group. Did you guys have a look yet?
... well - And I definitely want some of this beer shampoo, it's a great gift for a few people II can think of. Must give it with the link to this guy's blog for full effect!

  11. Regarding Hostels,
We booked 3 nights for 6 in Bola Bola for safety (this kind of things does run out fast). However we still have an option to modify until thursday:

Real Ryokan seemed pretty dear at the current exchange rate: nothing below 200Euro per head in those ones - top-notch, posh, upper class guest houses.

Another alternative might rather be a night in a temple hotel. Typically more like a hotel run by the temple, but they all give you great traditional food and the unique occasion of a morning service in either Buddhist chanting or Zen meditation. They are not for free, but surely more within our middle-class foreigner's range

Have look at these 3 links and give us your thoughts for a one-nighter:

    Ryokan Kyoto
http://www.japaneseguesthouses.com/db/kyoto/kawashima.htm (pricing cat D, no onsen, great food, central Kyoto)

    Temples Kyoto
http://marispassportdiaries.blogspot.com/2009/05/how-to-stay-in-kyoto-temple.html (see the blog for a fun impression)
http://templelodging.com/spot/05kansai/kyoto014.html (Oohara Mountain, sutra writing, no onsen, Distance?)

    Temple Nara
http://templelodging.com/spot/05kansai/nara005.html (cheap, 2 meals, writing sutra Sat and Sun .. in case we want to make a stop in Nara and take a 50 min walk uphill with all our bags)
